Out of the Doghouse
Giving Back

Giving back has always been an important part of my life. Usually it’s in the form of fighting for a worthy cause or volunteering my time. Of course more often than not it involves animals, but always the defenceless.

All of us that enjoy owning and loving dogs have a responsibility to help in some way with the millions of shelter and rescue dogs. After all, they exist because we commission them to be born and solely for our pleasure. My view is we as ‘dog owning humans’ have a duty to contribute to the care of the entire species, the ones living in our homes and the ones sitting in our shelters.

Ironically, by volunteering I get more than I give. Yes, it takes time( something I am always short of)yet when actively doing my small part on a regular basis I feel energized and enthusiastic about doing the right thing. It never fails to remind me how fortunate I am to have passion for what I do. I am grateful to be able to work with dogs – I believe that gratitude is an action word, giving back is just a part of getting to do what I do!

Out of The Doghouse will have one spot in all classes for a dog in need of training from a shelter or rescue group to attend at no cost. We will also consult with any non-profit organization whose purpose is helping dogs aiding in training advice or behaviour plans.

Out Of The Doghouse also wishes to offer affordable training options for anyone on a fixed income wanting to train their dog. We offer discounted rates ensuring everyone taking responsibility for their dogs behaviour has the opportunity to do so.

Thinking of getting a dog? Why not give a home to a shelter or rescue dog? A great way to give back!
